Jim Goddard – Tour Commissioner

Jim Goddard – ex junior golfer, now a senior golfer with 40 years of experience in the golf industry as a competitor, instructor, manager and administrator. 1975 BC and Canadian Junior Champion. NCAA Division I college player from 1974-1978. California State University, Fresno and University of Oregon. First Head Professional at Cordova Bay Golf Course, now Director of Golf. Canadian PGA member since 1979. Co-Founder and Commissioner of Vikes Golf Junior Tour.

 Bob Russell – Director

Bob Russell was a competitive junior and collegiate golfer who had the benefit of being introduced to the game in one of the best junior programs in the country at that time (a very long time ago). While in university he established the first junior program at what was then his home course (Cataraqui Golf and CC in Kingston, Ontario). And his parents, Art and Alice Russell devoted nearly 20 years to organizing the junior golf program at Nanaimo Golf and Country Club. A former public servant and now an independent businessman, he is very committed to creating opportunities for young people to play the game that has given so much to him.

Laura Ferreira –  Director

Laura Competed for the UVIC Women’s Golf Team for 4 years, representing UVIC in over 30 events and finished off her career as Women’s Team Captain leading them to a win at the Corban University Match Play Event and to the NAIA national championship in Florida. She was recognized by the University for going above and beyond her responsibilities as a student athlete making a positive contribution to the team through leadership, dedication, teamwork and a positive attitude. Laura is looking forward to encouraging a new generation of young female athletes by way of the Golf Fore The Girls program.

Michaela Abey – Director Emeritus Middle East Region

Michaela played on the UVic Women’s Golf Team for 5 years during which time she was an active volunteer and supporter of our LIttle Vikes program. Upon graduation she became even more involved starting the Golf Fore the Girls Program. As well, she assumed the role of official photographer and social media goddess. Life and work have taken her overseas. The personal impact she had on many of our participants will be her legacy. She is sorely missed but will always be in our hearts.

Michael Cook – Director Emeritus

One of the founding Directors of the Tour Mike recently retired to Nanaimo where area juniors will hopefully benefit from the same enthusiasm for supporting junior golf that Mike brought to a number of volunteer positions in Victoria going back to the 1990’s.
