Junior Golf Victoria Members Dominant at Provincial Junior Championships … again

For the second year in a row and 5th time in our 13 year history, a Junior Golf Victoria (JGV) member has won the Provincial Junior Boys Championship which wrapped up this afternoon at Morningstar Golf Course in Parksville. Gavyn Knight, who is from Parksville cruised to a 5 stroke victory after following an opening 2 over par 74 with 3 rounds of one under 71. Way to go Gavyn. All your hard work has been rewarded.

Following Gavyn among JGV members was defending champion and former Little Vike (and current Team Canada member) Willy Bishop who finished in a tie for 7th. 1/4 of the field making the cut were JGV members.

In the girls competition Team Canada member Seymour’s Jennifer Gu held the lead after every round completing a wire to wire 4 stroke victory. Many of you will remember Jen for joining other Team Canada members to play in our first two events this year at Bear Mountain. Among JGV members 15 year old Chelsea Truong finished with a stellar one under par 71 to finish in a tie for fourth. 1/3 of the 22 players making the cut were JGV members which some might suggest means our girls are much better than the boys. Someone … might.

Congratulations to all of you who played. You know we’re proud of how well you all conduct yourselves.
