Junior Golf For Beginners
An adult supervised program for young children interested in golf that emphasizes
Safety
Fun
Golf Instruction
Making Friends
Who can join?
Any boy or girl under 13 that has an interest in golf and can provide their own equipment
How Does it Work?
First
Your child attends any of the Instruction Clinics we sponsor where they will be guided through a three level instruction program designed to make them “course ready”. Clinic fee of $15 must be prepaid. Download the Course Ready Report Card below and take to the first clinic.
Second
Upon completion of the three levels, they can participate in the Little Vikes Events at the Cordova Bay’s Ridge Course where our volunteers, many of them Junior Tour Members and former Little Vikes, will teach them “how to play a golf course” as opposed to how to swing or hit a golf ball. In other words, they are instructed how to move around a golf course quickly, safely, and with courtesy. Importantly, they should continue to attend Instruction Clinics to continue to improve their technical skills even though they have passed the three level program.
Third
When deemed ready they can start to participate in the Callaway Junior Tour where they will play with experienced junior golfers and other recent graduates of the Little Vikes Program.
Finally, and again when deemed ready, they graduate from Little Vikes and join the Tour.
Little Vikes Ridge Course Events
For Level 3 grads only, these on-course events, all at Cordova Bay’s Ridge Course, teach your child how to play the game. How to care for the course, proper golf etiquette, and a general introduction to rules and scorekeeping. Event fee of $20 must be prepaid. Hot dog and drink are provided.
